ABA therapy in Washington County, Maryland
In-home ABA therapy in Washington County
In-home ABA therapy for children with autism across Washington County — Hagerstown, Boonsboro, Williamsport and the rest of the county.
In Western Maryland, the nearest autism provider can be a long way off, and families around Hagerstown often hear about waitlists before they hear about a start date. We don't have a waitlist in Maryland, and in-home ABA means you don't have to drive to us: a therapist comes to your home in Hagerstown, Boonsboro, Williamsport or Smithsburg and builds sessions around your child's everyday routines.

Getting started
How to begin ABA in Washington County
For a child under 3, you can request a free evaluation through your local Infants and Toddlers Program, Maryland's Early Intervention system (there's one in every county and Baltimore City). No autism diagnosis is needed to start, and the statewide line is 1-800-535-0182. As your child approaches age 3, you can move to Washington County Public Schools' preschool special education services through Child Find, or, if your child is found eligible for preschool special education, ask about Maryland's Extended IFSP option, which lets you choose to stay with the Infants and Toddlers Program a little longer. Whatever your child's age, we verify your insurance or Medicaid benefits up front and handle the prior-authorization paperwork for you — Maryland's plan rules and Medicaid each have their own age limits, and we'll check yours before anything starts.
Not sure where your family fits, or which system to start with? Our guide to getting started with ABA in Maryland walks through Infants and Toddlers, insurance, Medicaid, and choosing a provider — or just reach out and we'll point you in the right direction.

ABA therapy in Washington County — common questions
Do you offer in-home ABA therapy in Hagerstown and Washington County? +
Yes. Climbing Star serves families across Maryland, including Hagerstown, Halfway, Williamsport, Boonsboro, Smithsburg and the rest of Washington County. Our therapists come to your home, so there's no clinic to travel to.
Does insurance cover ABA therapy in Washington County? +
Often, yes. Health plans issued or delivered in Maryland must cover medically necessary ABA for children with autism until at least the end of the month in which your child turns 19, and Maryland Medicaid covers it for members under 21. If your plan was issued in another state — common for families who work across the state line — or is self-funded by your employer, different rules may apply. Send us the details and we'll check before anything starts.
How do we get started? +
Call our Maryland line or fill out the short referral form. We'll do a free consultation and verify your coverage, a behavior analyst will assess your child, and then we'll match you with a therapist and build a personalized plan.
